Lake Michigan Sand Dunes
St. Ignace
Spend an afternoon of sun and shore, swimming and wading along miles of beautiful sandy beach on the north shore of Lake Michigan. This beach is rated one of the finest in the Midwest. Bring the entire family for a day of sand sculpture, snorkling, snoozing in the sun and swimming in the cleanest, clearest waters of Pure Michigan!
North Country Trail
St. Ignace
The North Country Trail is a National Scenic Trail under the auspices of the National Park Service, US Dept. of the Interior.
Approximately 35 miles of the trail lies within the St. Ignace District. The trail is for hikers, bikers, snowshoes and cross country skiing. No horses or motorized vehicles are allowed. The North Country Trail Association - Hiawatha Chapter - is dedicated to offering a premier footpath of national significance to hikers in a permanently protected corridor, traversing and interpreting the richly diverse environmental, cultural, and historic features on the trail.
This national scenic trail will someday extend from New York to North Dakota.

Hiawatha National Forest
The Hiawatha National Forest is a huge tract of land covering much of our area. It includes forests and streams, rivers and dunes, fields and marshes. Interspersed are country roads and remote villages. I-75, US-2 and other highways cross through as well. Recreation activites vary from hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and hunting in warmer months to snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and ice-fishing in winter. The North Country Trail crossed through as do the Sand Dunes Cross Country Ski Trails. This ecosystem is home to many varieties of trees and plants as well as animals of every sort.

Silver Mountain
Silver Mountain is a great recreational location in St. Ignace. Snowboarding, skiing and tubing down the local slopes are found here in winter. This location features a disc golf course during the warmer months.
